East Hill Pride
Welcome to East Hill Pride Farm Shop
East Hill Pride Farm Shop is a family owned and hands on business that was originally started when in the mid 1800’s my great grandfather who ran a Heavy Horse Harness making shop on Cornhill Ottery St Mary bought our farm.
I started farming when I was 14 years old working for my father and continued until I married my wife when we took over the farm in 1974. We milked cows until the quota system was introduced when we felt the need to diversify. The herd was sold and we followed a passion to sell home produced meats to the final consumer giving customers freedom of choice from the major multiples. We applied and obtained planning permission to build an abbatoir, I trained to be a licensed slaughterman and butcher and bought a redundant butchers shop in Newton Poppleford. After a complete refurbishment we were able to sell our produce with our logo MEAT WITH A GUARANTEE OF ORIGIN that is still our ethos today.
Trading continued successfully for 25 years until increased traffic made it impossible to park and in 2009 decision was made to move to our present site where we built a new farm shop. A year later we added the tea room and more recently Photovoltic panels to produce renewable energy to run the shop.
