Although we have not posted an update recently we have a lot for you to catch up with.  February was a very busy month going through the process of obtaining additional EEC approval for our abbatior and cutting plant allowing us to dress and process wild/farmed deer and wild boar which we achieved and are now fully licensed.

We were very pleased to have achieved a score of 5 being the maximum from our East Devon District Council hygiene inspection for cleanliness in food handling in our kitchen, cafe and butchery (see chart below).

March, April and May was taken up with strimming, cutting grass, pruning and generally looking after the soft fruit, planting strawberries, runner beans, pumpkins and squash.  Strawberry picking has started today 7th June, later this year and generally there are not going to be as many as last year because the second year plants did not have the cold weather during the winter for the vernilisation process to work.

We are now offering our licence cafe and garden for any function such as birthdays, meetings or small private parties for the evening during the summer with full catering provided.

Don’t forget we offer a full Hog Roast service within a 12 miles radius of Ottery St Mary and our own produced beef Sunday roast, a choice of home made deserts and a glass of beer, cider or wine is available throughout the summer in the cafe.
